Vida’s Infant Car Seat Program Meets Needs of Local Families

An infant car seat is an essential piece of baby equipment that new parents need for the first year of their child’s life, and a car seat is also required by law for the trip home from the hospital. To meet this need of the families Vida Medical Clinic and Support Services serves (a material need many cannot afford,) Vida started a new program in 2021: the Vida Infant Car Seat Program.

To qualify for a new car seat valued at $200, Vida clients attend at least five Support Services appointments, which include watching five educational videos and attending two appointments with Vida nurses for education on breastfeeding and labor and delivery. This approach engages, educates, and empower parents about important parenting, child development, and maternal health topics.

Since the program launched in June 2021, Vida has had more than 15 clients sign up to participate, and six clients already graduated and earned the free car seat by the end of 2021!
