Job Title: Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Practitioner

Program: Medical Clinic

Supervisor: Medical Director/Executive Director

General Summary

The provider will use his/her uniquely licensed skills to meet the sexual and reproductive health needs of our patients in a professional medical office setting. All duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to the provision of the highest standards of medical care, are performed in support of Vida’s Mission, Vision, and Statement of Faith.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Practitioner:
  • Provides care to patients per licensed skills
  • Assures that the clinic staff are providing appropriate health care to patients under protocols
  • Acts as clinic leader by providing direction and support to medical team members
  • Maintains highest professional standards of care
  • Obtains a detailed history, performs physical examinations, assesses, educates, treats patients in addressing the sexual and reproductive health care needs of men and women within the scope of his/her licensure
  • Upholds the policies and procedures specified in the Vida Medical Clinic Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Adheres to applicable state and federal laws and regulations while maintaining professional medical standards
  • Prescribes a treatment plan, including medications, as allowable under applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and in alignment with Vida’s medical policies and procedures
  • Recognizes and consults with the offsite Medical Director on exceptional clinical situations requiring atypical care or management
  • Completes accurate and detailed documentation on all patient encounters using the electronic medical record
  • Works collaboratively with the clinic nurse manager and medical director in developing, maintaining, and updating clinic policies and procedures
  • Collaborates regularly with the Nurse Manager on clinic processes and patient care
  • Reviews and signs all nursing staff documentation of patient visits for accuracy, adherence to protocol, and appropriateness of care
  • Maintains licensures and certification as lawfully required to fulfill duties
  • Participates in educational programming for self and staff
  • Reports to and assumes other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Supervision (Received/Exercised)

Provider will be consulting and collaborating with Vida’s Medical Director as needed. Provider will also collaborate with and report to Vida’s Executive Director in all matters related to the business of operating a free and charitable medical clinic and implementing educational programs to fulfill Vida’s Mission and achieve Vida’s Vision. Provider also agrees to adhere to medical professional standards and organization’s policies and procedures.

Education Required

ANCC Certified Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Practitioner with relevant education, training, and experience

Previous Experience

Experienced Practitioner strongly preferred given the independent nature of this position

Credential/Licensure

Unrestricted NP or PA licensure and certification with DEA certificate
