Summer Internship Program Gives Students Opportunity to Serve at Vida

The work of Vida is possible because of a dedicated, faith-filled, and compassionate team of professionals who have said “yes” to our life-serving mission. This summer, Vida has welcomed four summer interns to our team to serve and work alongside our staff, volunteers, clients, and community. They are actively involved in our work, help advance our mission, and contribute in meaningful ways, all while learning and expanding their skillsets too.

Learn more about our incredible group of summer interns, what inspired them to join Team Vida for summer 2023, and how they’re serving:

Summer 2023 Internship at Vida: Support Services Intern

University: Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill.

Area of Study: Ministry to Women

Hometown: Menasha, Wis.

Future Aspirations: After Moody, I plan on attending Seminary to get my Master of Divinity. I would love to be working in the women’s ministry within a church. In such a role, I hope to mentor and disciple women, lead Bible studies, and use my schooling to teach women about biblical theology. I also hope to teach in a Christian school or university.

What made you interested in the Vida 10-week summer opportunity?I had heard about Vida and their mission through my church about a year ago. Knowing the importance of affirming the life of the unborn, I was really interested in Vida. The goal to welcome and show love to clients and patients, as well as help and support them, is really amazing. As I was thinking about jobs for the summer this February, Vida came to mind, and I began praying about an opportunity to work or volunteer here. After reaching out to Vida, the Lord answered my prayers, providing for me a chance to be a part of Vida’s team for 10 weeks!

What are you hoping to contribute and gain from your experience with Vida this summer? By being involved with Vida for 10 weeks, I hope to learn more about Vida and the services offered. I would love to have a greater understanding of what it looks like to work in a nonprofit. Vida also is a unique ministry context, and I am excited to see how the Lord works through the staff and volunteers here! I hope to be able to observe and listen to the women around me, learning from them about their faith and experience at Vida. In my role at Vida, I am looking to serve in any way that is needed to assist the staff in their work and service to others.

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of school and this internship? I enjoy being outdoors and playing sports. I am on the Moody Volleyball team. I love to read, mostly theology books. I also am a huge fan of coffee and going to local coffee shops, especially Seth’s in Appleton and Little Chute.

Summer 2023 Internship at Vida: Marketing and Health Promotion Intern (through WAFCC)

University: Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Ind.

Area of Study: Public Health

Hometown: Indianapolis, Ind.

Future Education or Career Aspirations: I want to continue my education at (hopefully) Rush University once I complete undergrad. I am currently considering two career paths as options: Cardiovascular Perfusionist and Public Health Nurse Administrator. As my undergrad career moves along, I will be able to pick between the two and begin to transition into the master’s program for the selected choice.

What made you interested in the Vida 10-week summer opportunity? The warm welcome I received from everyone on the team that I had interviewed with sold me. Minutes after I completed my application, I received a warm call informing me further on details of the internship. I knew then this would be the best place for me to spend and serve for the summer.

What are you hoping to contribute and gain from your experience with Vida this summer? I hope to contribute a positive aura to those who visit the center and those who work here. I hope to be a helping hand and an essential asset on the team. I mainly hope to help people overall. Everyone needs a helping hand, including myself, so I hope to be that for others this summer.

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of school and this internship? I have four siblings, and reading is my favorite thing to do in my free time.

Summer 2023 Internship at Vida: Support Services Intern

University: Cedarville University, Cedarville, Ohio

Area of Study: Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and Master’s degree in Divinity (Accelerated Program)

Hometown: Greenville, Wis.

Future Aspirations: As far as educational aspirations are concerned, after earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees through my current program, I hope to return to school in order to be an RDMS and eventually pursue a PhD in Bioethics. As far as career aspirations go, I believe that the highest calling in life is to be a wife and mother, so Lord-willing, I hope to be a homemaker some day. Aside from that, I feel that the Lord is calling me to an organization like Vida.

What made you interested in the Vida 10-week summer opportunity? This opportunity at Vida was truly a unique one. When looking for a summer internship I wanted to be part of a medical center/ support services organization with pro-life convictions, that served their community well in every area through various resources, and who prioritized quality care that’s free. That is exactly what I found in Vida.

What are you hoping to contribute and gain from your experience with Vida this summer? I hope to make a difference this summer in the lives of every family that walks through the doors of Vida and help the clinic to run smoothly.

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of school and this internship? I graduated from my high school Bridges Virtual Academy in 2020 and Fox Valley Technical College as a Certified Nurse Assistant in 2021. I enjoy Bible journaling, volunteering at my church (Appleton Alliance Church,) dancing ballet, baking, reading, writing, and gardening. At Cedarville University, I am the Students for Life Treasurer, Live Action Ambassador, member of the AYO dance team, and Women in Bible.

Summer 2023 Internship at Vida: Support Services Intern

University: Cedarville University, Cedarville, Ohio

Area of Study: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with a minor in Biblical Studies

Hometown: Greenville, Wis.

Future Education or Career Aspirations: I chose nursing because I have really felt God’s calling upon my life to be a midwife and use that for the purpose of missions. After my BSN, I plan on getting my Doctorate of Nursing Practice, specializing in midwifery. It may be in the US or overseas, but I hope to serve underprivileged women and children with medical care and the love of Christ wherever God leads me. Long-term though, I do hope to be overseas.

What made you interested in the Vida 10-week summer opportunity? I heard about Vida through various connections and became very interested when I heard about all that Vida does to come alongside moms and support life. I wanted to work here at Vida because it would give me the opportunity to interact in a non-medical way with moms and families who may be walking through difficult situations. I believe that these interactions will prepare me for my future role as a midwife and defender of life.

What are you hoping to contribute and gain from your experience with Vida this summer? At Vida, I hope to contribute by being an encouraging individual that radiates the love of Christ to co-workers and clients, serving each day in whatever way is most needed. I also hope to gain more of a knowledge of how and why Vida has been so successful over the years in helping so many moms and babies.

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of school and this internship? I enjoy spending time with family (I am one of six kids!), running, cooking, and playing piano and violin.
