Spreading Christmas Cheer to Trinity House Residents

‘Tis the season to celebrate the first Christmas at Trinity House. Vida Trinity House opened on October 30, 2023, and is the only maternity home in the Fox Valley. Trinity House provides free transitional residential maternity housing and life-changing programming to pregnant women, new moms, and their young children. This maternity home would not have been possible without the support and donations from our Friends of Vida, and this Christmas season was no different. Friends of Vida donated their time, talents, and resources to help bring Christmas cheer to residents.

At the beginning of December, long time Vida volunteer, Sharon Kuplackused her creative talents to decorate Trinity House campus for the Christmas season. Sharon is a local muralist and artist who helped transform Vida Medical Clinic and Support Services and Trinity House into a welcoming center and home. Sharon decorated the maternity home with wreaths, garlands, trees, gingerbreads, and many more decorations that filled the house with Christmas spirit.

Decorations also highlighted the true Christmas story. Donated ornaments share about Infant Jesus birth and a donated nativity scene by St. Patrick’s Gift and Books is displayed next to one of the Christmas trees.

Residents gather together each week for activities, fellowship, and fun with other residents. This holiday season they made ornaments, whose supplies were donated by Friends of Vida. Also in December, a volunteer came to make Christmas cards with residents and their children. The volunteer brought festive paper and stamps for the residents to use; the little children especially enjoyed the stickers she brought and placed them all over their cards.

Resident and maternity home staff also gathered to sing classic songs of the season with Christmas carolers from the People of Praise Christian Community, Appleton branch.

Our community stepped up this Christmas season to help provide gifts and clothing to the residents and children of Trinity House. Kerntke Otto McGlone Wealth Management Group helped supply warm clothing for the winter months ahead, including winter boots, coats, gloves, and hats. Church Partners, Friends of Vida, and Power of 100+ Fox Cities all donated gifts including toys, books, baby clothes, soap, kitchen items, and much more to the residents and families at Trinity House.

Christmas was celebrated with Trinity House staff, interns, residents and their children on December 18. The evening was filled with both happiness and tears, as we celebrated and said goodbye to our first Trinity House program graduate.

We want to thank everyone who gifted their time, talents, and resources to help make this first Christmas special for our residents and their children.
