A quarter-million dollar matching gift supersized the generosity of our community and helped Vida open Trinity House debt free.
When Vida announced the addition of maternity housing in the Fox Valley earlier this year, the community stepped up with incredible support! Professionals gifted in-kind labor and materials. Volunteers donated thousands of hours of time for property renovations. Individuals made generous financial contributions to the renovation and program funding campaigns.
Amid it all was the 333 Fundraising Campaign, which was aimed at paying off the $333,333.33 property mortgage. Within a month following the campaign’s launch in late spring 2023, we reached one-third of the campaign goal thanks to donations from hundreds of Friends of Vida!
Just as the campaign was coming to a close, a couple generously stepped up with an anonymous 2-to-1 matching gift (for $213,000) to get Vida across the finish line; this retired the building mortgage debt, enabled Vida to open Vida Trinity House debt free, and shifted focus forward to ongoing program funding. The nearly quarter-million dollar anonymous matching gift was intended to match and supersize the generosity of our community, and it truly did! Matching gifts, like this one, have that incredible power to double the impact and inspire others to join a community of givers in our shared mission.
Our residents celebrated their first Thanksgiving at Vida Trinity House earlier this month, and what a joy it was during this season of gratitude! We continue to surround them–pregnant women, single moms, and their babies and young children—with love, support, and resources that affirm their inherent value and empower them to improve the trajectory of their lives and the lives of their children. What a gift!
